Arc

Veretec were appointed Executive Architects for Vinci Construction on behalf of Sovereign Centros, to deliver this mixed-use redevelopment of a 12-acre former cattle market in Bury St Edmunds town centre. It provides a vibrant new retail quarter and extension to the historic core of the town.

The scheme includes an anchor store and a further six buildings with 35 new shops, cafes and restaurants, 62 stylish apartments, an underground car park and a new multipurpose public venue, all arranged around open shopping streets and a new public square.

The three storey anchor store incorporates a unique complex bespoke designed cast aluminium cladding system comprising 2,800 custom made diamond-shaped panels with over 300 varying pattern shapes.

The Arc opened in 2009 and won a BCSC Gold Award in 2010, a RIBA Award in 2011 and a Civic Trust Award in 2012.
