We were appointed by Osborne to deliver two prominent buildings forming a city block within the Finsbury Circus Conservation Area for the City of London.
Project Details
No. 84 Moorgate, known as Electra House, is a 1903 Grade II Listed classically influenced building notable as the wartime London base of Cable & Wireless Limited, and office of Department EH — one of the three British organisations that merged in World War II to form the Special Operations Executive.
It’s sensitive refurbishment involved careful realignment to the heavily altered internal spaces across the building’s seven floors with a restored entrance and reception area, new cores to enable full building accessibility, and the reconfiguration of internal spaces with fully update MEP and new roof top enclosures.
“This is a very special building with great heritage and including many significant decorative features. We will undertake the work with the care and respect that this great building deserves. I am looking forward to seeing the completed scheme which will create many intelligently designed spaces with modern services and facilities that will improve the working environment for the users whilst protecting the fantastic heritage of the building.”
No.74 Moorgate, formerly known as Tower Chambers, is the new construction of a BREEAM excellent rated commercial office building and will provide 8 storeys of accommodation and accessible terraces to the upper level.
The typical floor plates are arranged as open plan office space to the perimeter of the building to benefit from natural daylighting whilst creating flexibility for future tenant Cat B fit-out. The existing lightwell was in-filled with a new WC block and the building overall reused the existing basement which remains shared with No. 84 Moorgate.
