The existing building was renovated and extended with the addition of a new floor to create a six storey shared office space. A new double skin façade facing Cambridge Heath Road facilitates passive ventilation of the internal spaces.

To the rear of the building a new extension utilises cross laminated timber, using prefabricated two-way spanning panels to form environmentally sustainable structural walls, roofs and floors.

In line with Ethical Property’s sustainability policy, the building reduces negative impact upon the environment by maximising the use of natural resources and renewable energies.

The building completed in two phases, with overall completion in 2019. The Green House was the winner of the ‘Offices over 5,000 m2' category at the AJ Retrofit Awards 2019 and was shortlisted for the AJ100 Executive Architect of the Year Award.

“Through thoughtful and thorough interventions, a dilapidated light industrial building has been transformed into light-filled contemporary workspace.”
