We have worked on some incredible projects using exposed timber – a beautiful and renewable construction material
These include the award-winning The Green House for Ethical Property and the UK Pavilion for the Dubai Expo due to be held later this year.
The Green House involves the reuse of a 1960’s office building incorporating a new extension using cross laminated timber in prefabricated two-way spanning panels to form structural walls, roofs and floors. CLT is both lightweight and structurally efficient, and the completed building halves annual CO2 emissions from the notional benchmark.
In addition CLT creates highly attractive internal spaces, particularly in the atrium where the timber staircase forms a striking central feature.

We are also delivering the UK pavilion for the Dubai Expo – a unique collaboration with the celebrated artist and stage designer Es Devlin, to create an illuminated ‘message to space’ to which Expo visitors will be invited to contribute. Cross laminated timber blades are set out radially to form a circular façade and incorporate LEDs to display poetry and messaging.
This will be generated by an algorithm using words donated by the pavilion’s visitors alongside lines of poetry from more than 100 contemporary British poets including Simon Armitage and Alice Oswald.
We couldn’t be prouder helping to fly the flag for UK design in Dubai!
